Marc Lancet is an internationally recognized
ceramic artist, and a professor of 3D art at Solano College in Northern
California. His work ranges from moderate scale to large architectural
pieces, sometimes incorporating metal and other materials. Marc's
demonstration and gigantic pit-fire has been a popular annual event
at the California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Art (CCACA)
in Davis.
Lancet demonstrated his pit-firing techniques
in a huge pit (20' x 6' x 6'). In addition, Lancet displayed his throwing
and hand-building techniques that he developed creating his vessel
and sculptural forms. The pit-firing started at sunset, and continued
into the evening as a focus for the Hallowe'en Party (live music included).
Participants were asked to bring bisque fired ceramic works to be
included in the pit- firing.
